Frequently asked questions

1. Emergency & Availability (The Urgent Questions)

Q: Are Locksquad Locksmiths available 24 hours a day for emergencies?

A: Yes. We offer a genuine 24/7 emergency locksmith service across the entire Isle of Sheppey and wider Kent area. Whether it’s late at night or a bank holiday, we are always on call.

Q: How quickly can you get to my location on the Isle of Sheppey (e.g., Sheerness, Minster, Leysdown)?

A: Our rapid response time is typically 30 minutes or less within our core service area, including Sheerness, Minster, Leysdown, Queenborough, and Eastchurch. We understand that in an emergency, every minute counts.

Q: Do you charge a call-out fee?

A: No, we never charge a call-out fee. You will only be charged for the work we successfully complete and any parts required. We provide a clear, upfront quote before any work begins.

Q: What is "non-destructive entry"?

A: Non-destructive entry means we use specialist tools and techniques to open your lock without causing damage to your door, frame, or the lock itself, wherever possible. This saves you money and hassle on repairs.

2. Lockouts & Key Problems

Q: I am locked out of my house. What information do you need from me?

A: Please provide your exact address, your phone number, and a brief description of the problem (e.g., keys inside, lost keys, broken key in lock). We will use this to provide an accurate quote and dispatch a technician immediately.

Q: Can you help if my key has snapped off in the lock?

A: Yes. We carry specialist extraction tools to remove broken key fragments from cylinders and mechanisms, often without needing to replace the entire lock.

Q: I just moved to a new house in Minster. Should I change the locks?

A: Absolutely. We highly recommend changing all external door locks when moving into a new property. This ensures that old tenants, builders, or previous owners no longer have access. We can provide a free security assessment and quote for lock changes across the Isle of Sheppey.

3. Specialist Services & Security Upgrades

Q: My uPVC door lock is jammed and won't open. Can you fix it?

A: Yes, we are uPVC door and window specialists. The problem is often the multi-point mechanism, not just the cylinder. We can repair, replace, or realign uPVC door mechanisms, gearboxes, and hinges quickly.

Q: What security standards should my locks meet for my home insurance in Kent?

A: Most insurance companies require external door locks to be British Standard (BS) 3621 approved. We only fit locks that meet or exceed these standards, and we can advise you on upgrading older locks to British Standard 1-Star or 3-Star anti-snap cylinders.

Q: Do you provide services for commercial properties and landlords?

A: Yes. We offer a full range of commercial services, including high-security master key systems, access control solutions, Landlord Eviction Service, and repairs for shops and businesses across the Isle of Sheppey.

Q: Can you help if my property has been burgled?

A: Yes, we offer 24/7 burglary repair and securing services. We can board up windows and doors, repair damaged frames, and replace locks with high-security units immediately to make your property safe and secure.

4. Trust & Pricing

Q: Are your locksmiths trustworthy and vetted?

A: Yes. All of our technicians are professional, experienced, and we are a fully Guaranteed & Insurance Approved local business. We can show relevant ID upon arrival for your peace of mind.

Q: How will I know the final cost?

A: We believe in complete transparency. We provide a free, fixed quote over the phone or upon initial inspection. You will agree to the price before any work begins, with no hidden charges or call-out fees.
